Wireless PAN(Personal Area Network) is an emerging technology that enables short-range wireless ad hoc connectivity as well as high throughput or low energy consumption. Currently, a couple of standardization bodies including IEEE and MBOA are developing wireless PAN mesh technology which has the capability to provide extension of network coverage without increasing transmit power and to provide enhanced reliability via route redundancy. In this talk, after introducing the benefits and applications of WPAN mesh, we will discuss the problems of current WPAN standards and review several approaches suggested by industry and academics.

With the development of the digital
media, forgery and illegal copy of digital contents are flooded. To
prevent them, we can use the digital watermarking technology. A good
digital watermarking system should satisfy the two requirements:
robustness and invisibility. In robustness, the watermark must be
robust against attacks like filtering. In invisibility, the watermark
must be embedded without perceptual degradation of the original
quality. In this talk, after introducing basic techniques and
applications of the digital multimedia data watermarking, I will talk
about an ASCII data hiding method based on a digital video
watermarking briefly.
Seung H. Rhee is Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering at Kwangwoon University, Seoul, Korea. Dr. Rhee is working on emerging technologies and architectures for wireless communication networks, especially for wireless PANs. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of Texas at Austin in 1999. Currently, he is on sabbatical as a Visiting Scholar in Computer Science Dept. of NCSU.
Kwang S. Moon is Professor of Division of Electronic, Computer and Telecommunication at Pukyung National University, Busan, Korea. The research areas of Dr. Moon include digital image processing and multimedia data watermarking. He received his Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering from Kyungpook National University in 1989. Currently, he is on sabbatical as a Visiting Scholar in Computer Science Dept. of NCSU.
Special Instructions: This talk will be for 25 minute and will be followed by another talk for 25 min (by another visiting professor, Prof. Moon). I will enter the relevant information shortly.
