Young Talks Industry / Academic Collaboration at Montreal International Games Summit
Dr. R. Michael Young, associate professor of computer science at NC State University, was an invited speaker at the Montreal International Games Summit held in Montreal, Quebec on November 27th and 28th, 2007.
Young, co-director of the Digital Games Research Center at NC State University, gave a talk titled "A Value Model for Industry/Academic Collaboration" in which he urged games industry technologists to consider expanding their collaborative relationships with research faculty at universities.
Young described several examples of compelling university research projects in games performed at NC State and elsewhere and gave his audience an overview of the process of technology transfer from university lab to product. He also highlighted the significant role that games industry developers can play to address pipeline issues in computer science undergraduate enrollments world-wide.
