Fall Diploma Ceremony Planned for 2 p.m. on December 14th
The NC State University Computer Science Department will hold its fall diploma ceremony on Friday, December 14th at 2:00 p.m. in the main sanctuary at Providence Baptist Church, located at 6339 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh (directions).
We are honored to have alumna U.S Army Lieutenant Colonel Tanya Markow (M.S. CSC 2004), serve as our keynote speaker.
A 17-year veteran of the military, Markow holds an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from the U.S Military Academy at West Point. She also has a master’s degree in Computer Science from NC State University and a Ph.D. in Human-Centered Computing from the Georgia Institute of Technology. She was in one of the earliest classes of women to qualify to fly the Apache helicopter and was the third woman in history to serve as an Apache helicopter instructor pilot. Currently, Markow is an assistant professor of Computer Science at the United States Military Academy at West Point, and a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army where she is an Army Aviator and an Instructor Pilot.
Approximately 170 graduates are expected to receive their degrees during the ceremony. Our special thanks go to the NC State Engineering Foundation and the ePartners Program for their generous sponsorship of this event.
For the convenience of guests who might require overnight accommodations, there are a number of hotels located in the immediate area. For more information, click here.
