Ma Receives Joint Faculty Appointment Supplement
Dr. Xiaosong Ma, associate professor of computer science at NC State University, has been awarded $14,703 in supplemental funding by the UT-Battelle, LLC to support her joint faculty appointment with NC State and Oak Ridge National Laboratories (ORNL). Total funding for the project is $80,868, and the award runs through August 15, 2013.Abstract: This joint appointment will allow the PI to continue her long-term collaboration with ORNL researchers. Specifically for 2012-2013, the joint teams will focus on several HPC projects, including active storage on new memory media, automatic creation of parallel I/O benchmarks, and application I/O workload analysis based on server-side aggregate I/O load traces. The PI will supervise NCSU graduate students performing PhD research on these joint projects, who will also receive mentoring from ORNL collaborators.
