In a major press event, NC State and Insight Racing announce a partnership with Lotus Engineering and the Advanced Vehicle Research Center to field a driverless Lotus Elise in the 2007 DARPA Urban Challenge. more Departmental Research Grants, Gifts, and Support Duke Energy has donated $7,500 to the department
as a renewal of their ongoing support of our Sr. Design Center and our
ePartners Program. Fujitsu Transaction Solutions has donated $5,000
to the department in support of our Sr. Design Center Program. Thanks to generous gifts from the Triangle Area Smalltalk Users Group and Mrs. Ling Tai, the Dr KC Tai Memorial Endowment has grown to a value of over $38,000. This special endowment, created to honor the legacy of software engineering professor, Dr. KC Tai, provides an ongoing source of scholarship and/or programmatic funds. Dr Jaewoo Kang, collaborating with researchers
from the department of Marine, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences (MEAS)
in NC State's College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, has received
a grant of almost $1M from the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration
(NOAA) in support of a multi-disciplinary research proposal titled " NOAA Interdisciplinary Scientific Environmental Technology (ISET)
Cooperative Research and Education Center ". The award runs
from Sept. 1st, 2006 through August 31st, 2011. more CSC Faculty / Staff News Dr. Michael Young, associate professor, has been named the new Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Game Development, effective January 2007. more Dr. Frank Mueller, associate professor of computer science, and Theresa-Marie Rhyne, Director of the Center for Visualization & Analytics, have both been recognized by the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) as Senior Members for 2006. more Congratulations to Dr. Mladen Vouk, professor, associate vice provost for information technology and head of computer science, who has been recognized as a "Pride of the Wolfpack Award" winners in the College of Engineering. more Centennial Campus Gateway Naming Honors Masnari

Department Participates in NCSTA Conference Societal relevance of computer science is growing rapidly, as are the computer science and IT job markets. With over a million new jobs in this space projected by 2012, there has never been a better time for middle and high school students to consider a career in computer science. This is precisely the message taken by the NC State department of computer science to the science teachers and educators participating in the North Carolina Science Teachers Association (NCSTA) Conference in Greensboro, NC on November 9 & 10. more Teams Compete in ACM Regional Programming Contest With the generous support of sponsor, SAS Institute, NC State sent two teams to the ACM Mid Atlantic Regional Programming Contest, held on October 28th at Duke University. more New NCSU Home Page Design Concepts Posted for Input, Feedback Three possible design concepts for the new NC State University home page have been posted for input and feedback from the campus community. more CSC "Jobs List" If you are a CSC student and would like to receive an automatic email notice whenever new postings are activated on the CSC online jobs board, you are invited to subscribe to the cscjobs list.
