CSC Wolf Bytes

Welcome New Faculty and Staff - Jason Kelsey has joined the Undergraduate Advising Office. He comes to CS after serving two years in the Poole College of Management. His office will be in Lampe Hall on Main Campus. Colleen Brown has joined the CS and ECE Marketing and Communications Team in the new role of Content Specialist. Her focus will be written storytelling about both disciplines, from research to student life, in addition to serving as the social media manager for Computer Science's channels. She comes to us most recently from the N.C. Department of Commerce, where she served as Digital Media Manager. You can contact her with ideas for news or feature stories at cmbrow27@ncsu.edu.

Faculty Promotions - We congratulate the following faculty on their recent promotions: Dr. Lina Batestilli, Teaching Professor; Dr. Zhishan Gui, Associate Professor (tenured) and Dr. Thomas Price, Associate Professor (tenured).

Discovering AI: The Nobel Prize That Shaped Machine Learning - Dr. Xipeng Shen, , Professor of Computer Science, will give a talk on Artificial Intelligence at the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences as part of the museum's Science Cafe series. This is a free event hosted at the Daily Planet Cafe from 7-8 p.m. on December 19, 2024. Read More »

2025 Annual Quantum Information Processing Conference (QIP) - The 28th Annual Quantum Information Processing Conference is set for February 24-28, 2025 in Raleigh. NC State (the Dept. of Computer Science and the Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering) is a co-host of this year's conference with Duke University. QIP is one of the largest conferences in quantum computing, with around 1,000 participants attending in recent years. Local and international participants are welcome. 4th Annual North Carolina Cybersecurity Symposium - The Annual North Carolina Cybersecurity Symposium, sponsored by the North Carolina Partnership for Cybersecurity Excellence (NC PACE), is set for February 20-21, 2025 at the McKimmon Center in Raleigh. The symposium will feature a lineup of cybersecurity sessions and workshops, a student research track, an Education Showcase and much more. Register by February 17, 2025. Read More »
